PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound in high selectivity and yield, by reacting carbon nomoxide with hydrogen in the presence of an Rh catalyst added with a cocatalyst comprising V, Fe and at least an element selected from Li, K, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is produced by reacting carbon monoxide with hydrogen preferably at a volume ratio (CO/H2) of 0.25W5 at 180W 350°C under 0W250kg/cm2G pressure in the presence of a catalyst system consisting of an Rh catalyst added with a cocatalyst comprising (A) V, (B) Fe and (C) one or more components selected from Li, K, Sc, Y, Ce, Ti, Zr, Nb and Hf [the atomic ratios of Rh:V:Fe:C-component are preferably 1:(0.01W3):(0.01W3): (0.01W2) and the ratios of V:Fe:C-component are 1:(0.01W2):(0.01W2)].
