Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide production of p-xylyl acetates suitable for synthesizing p-xylylene glycol useful as a raw material for resins under a mild condition in high yield and selectively.
CONSTITUTION: Production of p-xylyl monoacetate and/or p-xylylene diacetate is carried out by reacting p-xylene with oxygen in a solvent of acetic acid together with a metal salt of acetic acid in the presence of a catalyst which is a palladium complex comprising poly-γ-diphenylphosphinopropylsiloxane as a ligand, has the molar ratio of phosphorus and palladium of 2-10 and uses an inorganic porous substance as a carrier.
