Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly strengthen the face section and reduce mislanding level on the effective area portion of the face section by strongly cooling the inner face corner portion as the higher-temperature zone of a face section as compared to the other portions to decrease the temperature difference between the inner face center and inner face corner.
SOLUTION: A molded glass is withdrawn from a mold and strengthened by quenching; in this process (2nd process), the cooling is conducted so as to satisfy the relationship: 0.4≤(T2fmax-T2fmin)/(T2smax-T2smin)≤0.7 (T2smax is the temperature of the inner face corner as the maximum temperature zone of the inner face of the face section at the starting stage; T2smin is the temperature of the inner face center as the minimum temperature zone; T2fmax is the temperature of the inner face corner at the ending point of the 2nd process; T2fmin is the temperature of the inner face center). Thus, the inner face corner portion as the higher-temperature zone of the face section is partially quenched to decrease the temperature difference between the inner face center and inner face corner along with increasing the temperature difference in the direction of wall thickness of the corner portion, and then the following process is carried out.
