Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject laminated board, good in processability, water resistance, electrical characteristics and curability and useful as printed wiring boards, etc., by adding a novolak type cashew-modified phenolic resin to a drying oil-modified phenolic resin, impregnating substrates with the resultant mixture, drying the impregnated substrates and laminate molding the dried substrates. CONSTITUTION:The objective phenolic resin laminated board is obtained by reacting (A) phenols (e.g. phenol) with cashew nut shell oil and aldehydes (e.g. paraformaldehyde) in the presence of an acidic catalyst (e.g. p-toluenesulfonic acid) in a solvent such as toluene under heating conditions, mixing the resultant novolak type cashew-modified phenolic resin with (B) a drying oil-modified phenol.formaldehyde resin prepared by reacting a phenol with formaldehyde and a drying oil (e.g. tung oil) in the presence of the acidic catalyst (e.g. the p-toluenesulfonic acid), impregnating substrates for the laminated board with the prepared mixture, drying the impregnated substrates and laminate molding the dried substrates. This laminated board is excellent in punchability and water resistance and good in electrical and mechanical characteristics and curability.
