Abstract:

PURPOSE:To mass produce a pimelic acid monoester in high yield in high purity for a relatively short time, by hydrolyzing a pimelic acid diester by using an enzyme yielded by a bacterium belonging to the genus Pseudomonas. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous suspension containing a pimelic acid diester shown by formula I (R<1> is 1-4C alkyl; R<2> is 1-4C alkyl except t-butyl group; A is carbonyl group or group wherein carbonyl group and acetal ring form acetal ring) is reacted with an enzyme having esterase activity produced by a bacterium belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, such as lipase produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa at pH 6.0-10.0 at 20-50 deg.C for 1-24 hours and a pimelic acid monoester shown by formula II (R<1> and A are shown above) is obtained from the reaction solution.
