PURPOSE: To produce a titled piston without generating any crack in a plate-like part by bringing the peripheral edge of a metallic sheet fitted into the projecting part of a ceramic member constituting a top surface into tight contact with the plate-like part of the constituting member and the annular plane of a bottom mold.

CONSTITUTION: The plate-like part 15 of a ceramic member 14 constituting a top surface is disposed in the recess 4 of a bottom mold 6, and the projecting part of the member 14 is fitted into the hole 21 of a metallic sheet 23. The sheet 23 with a peripheral edge 22 held superposed on the annular plane 16 of a bottom mold 6 is disposed on the member 14. The sheet 23 is brought into tight contact with the member 14 and the plane 16. A cushion member 24 is fitted into the neck of the member 14. Then, a part of the molten metal 10 charged into the cavity 2 of a casting mold by a pressurization device 11 for charging the molten metal is prevented from forming a flash and protrusion between the part 15 of the member 14 and a bottom mold 6 accepting said part. Cracking in the part 15 is thus obviated.
