PURPOSE: To obtain the subject various kinds of products excellent in air permeability and homogeneity under the optimum conditions in the same apparatus for production by using a device having a yarn opening cylinder directly connected to a position just under a suction gun and traversing pitch fiber according to a special method,
CONSTITUTION: Petroleum-based or coal-based fiber-forming pitch is melt spun and the resultant fiber is then taken off with a device having a yarn opening cylinder (B) directly connected to a position just under a suction gun (A) for yarn and traversed while introducing air from an air introduction pipe 5, having an air regulating valve 6 and installed in a connecting part 4 of the suction gun (A) to the opening cylinder (B) into the opening cylinder (B). Thereby, the objective products are obtained. Furthermore, the cross section of the opening cylinder (B) is preferably 2.5-10 times that of a yarn leading out part 3 and the length of the opening cylinder (B) is preferably 5-8 times that of the yarn passage diameter of the opening cylinder. The caliber of the yarn introduction part 2 is normally preferably 5-50mm.
