PURPOSE: To provide the process for production of a lens which eliminates the possibility of eluting a primer component into a hard coating liquid and contaminating the hard coating liquid and can maintain the pot life of a primer compsn. for long period at the time of producing the lens having excellent impact resistance by providing a primer layer and hard coating layer with antireflection film layers thereon and immersing the lens provided with the primer layer into the hard coating liquid.
CONSTITUTION: The plastic lens is produced by providing the surface of the base material for the plastic lens with the primer layer consisting of thermosetting polyurethane thereon and then successively providing with the hard coating layer consisting of a silicone resin, etc., thereon. Further, the antireflection film layers of a single layer or plural layers consisting of an inorg. material are formed thereon, by which the plastic lens is produced. The primer layer is formed by applying a coating material for the primer consisting essentially of a straight chain polyurethane resin and crosslinking agent to the plastic lens, then subjecting the coating to a curing treatment by heating.
