Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyacetal copolymer having an extremely small amount of unstable terminal parts, at a high polymerization yield, excellent in heat stability and useful as a formed product, etc., by copolymerizing trioxane with a cyclic ether, etc., under a specific condition.
SOLUTION: This polyacetal copolymer is obtained by copolymerizing trioxane as a major monomer with a cyclic ether such as 1, 3-dioxolane, or a cyclic formal such as diethylene glycol formal having at least one carbon- carbon bond as a comonmer by using a heteropolyacid (acidic salt) of the formula [M is P or Si; M' is W, Mo or V; (l) is 10-100; (m) is 1-10; (n) is 6-40; (x) is ≥1; (y) is 0-50] such as phosphomolybdic acid to make ≤10wt.% residual monomers based on the total fed monomers, then adding 0.01-10wt.% solution containing a deactivating agent for the catalyst based on a produced crude polymer to deactivate the catalyst and next heat- and melt-treating the crude polymer as it is without washing.
