Title:
PRODUCTION OF POLYALCOHOL EXCELLENT IN THERMAL STABILITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1135676
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to obtain the subject polyalcohol not causing thermal coloration and thermal structural change by adding a specific compound to the polyalcohol obtained by the hydrogenation of a polyketone in the presence of a metal reduction catalyst to inactivate the metal component originated from the catalyst. SOLUTION: This method for producing a polyalcohol excellent in thermal stability comprises adding a phosphine compound (e.g. triphenyl phosphine) and/or a thiourea compound (e.g. tetramethylthiourea) to the polyalcohol obtained by the hydrogenation of a polyketone in the presence of a metal reduction catalyst (preferably a ruthenium complex catalyst comprising a ruthenium compound and a triakylphosphine) to inactivate the metal component originated from the catalyst. The polyketone is a copolymer of carbon monoxide with an olefinic compound (preferably ethylene). The compound is preferably added in an amount of 0.5-100 mole equivalents per g atom of the metal of the metal reduction catalyst. The compound is preferably added in a solvent system or suspension system state in order to be homogeneously dispersed in the polymer.
