Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce an arom. polyamide having a relatively high mol.wt. and a relatively high inherent viscosity at a relatively high reaction rate.
CONSTITUTION: In this process for producing an arom. polyamide, carbon monoxide, a diamine. and an arom. polyiodide having at least two iodine atoms covalently bonded to an arom. ring in non-ortho positions are reacted at a pressure higher than 1 kg/cm2 in the presence of a solvent, a catalyst, and a base.
