Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition useful as paint, adhesive and thermosetting resin by homopolymerizing dicyclopentadiene in the presence of catalyst comprising a compound of specific transition metal and aluminoxane.

CONSTITUTION: Dicyclopentadiene is polymerized in the presence of catalyst comprising (A) a compound of transition metal selected from IVb group, Vb group and VIb group, e.g., compound of titanium or zirconium and (B) aluminoxane, e.g., organic aluminum compound, preferably at -30°CW200°C, in a hydrocarbon medium such as benzene or toluene to afford the aimed composition.
