Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce a polyester film having homogeneously roughened surfaces by stretching an unoriented film composed of a film-forming thermoplastic polyester and a water-soluble copolyester, then washing the stretched film with water and removing the aforementioned water-soluble copolyester. CONSTITUTION:An unoriented polyester film containing (A) a film-forming thermoplastic polyester (preferably polyethylene terephthalate) and (B) a water- soluble copolyester prepared by introducing metallic sulfonate groups in an amount of 5-20mol% based on the whole dicarboxylic acid component preferably at (95/5)-(70/30) weight ratio of the components (A)/(B) into the component (A) is uni- or biaxially stretched, heat set and then washed with water preferably at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the component (B), especially >=10 deg.C higher than the glass transition temperature of the component (B), which is subsequently removed. Thereby, the objective polyester film having homogeneously roughened surfaces is readily produced.
