PURPOSE: To obtain the title yarn having excellent strength and elongation characteristics by ultrahigh-speed spinning method without problems of end breakage, etc., by spinning a polyester prepared by copolymerizing polyethylene terephthalate with a specific aromatic diol component under a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester comprising ethylene terephthalate as a main repeating unit, copolymerized with 0.1-20mol% based on whole dicarboxylic acid of an aromatic diol component shown by formula I (R1 and R2 are 2-5C alkylene; m and n are natural number) is spun at a take-up speed satisfying formula II [V is take-up speed (m/minute); d is fineness (denier) of single yarn of wound yarn]. The polyester yarn is preferably obtained by adding the aromatic diol component shown by formula I to the reaction system and copolymerizing at any stage before completion of polycondensation reaction in an ordinary production process of polyethylene terephthalate.
