Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reclaim used polyethylene terephthalate or waste polyethylene terephthalate generated during production or processing into a high-grade product in high yields under the conditions advantageous for energy-saving. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene terephthalate is heated together with a mixture of a terephthalic acid ester of the general formula (wherein (m) is 2-6, (n) is 1-3, and -phi- is p-phenylene) with a glycol to effect ester exchange, and the product is polycondensed in a vacuum.
