Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a polyesteramide having high strength, chemical resistance, heat-resistance and water resistance by dissolving a polyamide having a specific reduced viscosity into a dicarboxylic acid component such as adipic acid and a diol component such as ethylene glycol and reacting the components with each other under heating.
CONSTITUTION: A polyamide (e.g. 6-nylon) having a reduced viscsity of 1.8-7.0 (as 98% sulfuric acid solution of 1g/dL concentration at 20°C) is dissolved in an amount of 20-70wt.% into 80-30wt.% of a polyester-constituting component containing a dicarboxylic acid component composed mainly of adipic acid and a diol component such as ethylene glycol, butylene glycol, etc. The solution is heated to 150-230°C to esterify the polyester-constituting component and the polyester and the poluamide contained in the obtained transparent homogeneous solution are polymerized at 200-260°C under reduced pressure to obtain the objective polyesteramide having excellent mechanical strength, chemical resistance, thermal deterioration resistance and water resistance.
