Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin composition excellent in melt fluidity as well as the outstanding characteristics inherent in polyimide resin by kneading a polyimide resin, carbon fiber and a glass fiber-reinforced thermotropic liquid crystal polymer produced by kneading in advance. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (A) a polyimide resin made up of recurring unit of formula I (X is direct bond, 1-10C divalent hydrocarbon group, etc,; Y1-Y4 are each H, lower alkyl, Cl, etc,; R1 is tetravalent group selected from >=2C aliphatic groups, aromatic groups, etc.), (B) a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer, pref. having at least one kinds of basic structure selected from those of respective formula II-V, (c) glass fiber and (D) carbon fiber. This composition can be obtained by the following process: 50-99wt.% of the component B and 50-1wt.% of the component C are blended in e.g. a Henschel mixer followed by kneading in e.g. an extruder at 250-400 deg.C, and 74-1wt.% of the pellets of the resulting glass fiber-reinforced thermotropic liquid crystal polymer, 25-98wt.% of the component A's powder and 74-1wt.% of the component D are mixed, and resultant blend is kneaded at 350-450 deg.C.
