Abstract:

To provide a production process for latex comprising particles of a vinyl chloride homopolymer or copolymer having two average particle size distributions.

A latex (L1) of polymer particles based on vinyl chloride having a single average particle size distribution and an average particle size of 1.2-2 μm and another latex (L2) of polymer particles based on vinyl chloride having a single average particle size distribution and an average particle size of 0.15-0.3 μm are mixed at a weight ratio of (L2/L1) of 0.1-0.3. The latex (L1) is prepared by the seed-sowing micro suspension polymerization of corresponding single or plural monomer(s) in the presence of a seed-sowing polymer comprising particles containing at least one polymerization initiator soluble in an organic solvent and having an average particle size of 0.6-0.9 μm, water, an anionic surfactant, a soluble metal salt and reducing agent.
