PURPOSE: To obtain the subject polymer useful as a low-irritation skin detergent in high recovery with decreased waste water discharge by polymerizing an oxazoline compound, etc., in the presence of a polymerizataon initiator and removing impurities from the product by electrodialysis.
CONSTITUTION: The objective polymer is produced by polymerizing a 2-oxazoline compound (e.g. 2-methyl-2-oxazoline) and/or 2-oxazine compound (e.g. 2-methyl-2- oxazine) in the presence of a polymerization initiator (preferably dimethyl sulfate, p-toluenesulfonic acid methyl ester, etc.) and removing the ionic impurities in the reactional product and/or ionic impurities formed in a solution obtained by adding an alkaline agent to the reactional product by electrodialysis.
