PURPOSE: To obtain a high mol.wt. polyolefin reduced in residual catalyst quantity by polymerizing an olefin compound in the presence of a catalyst consisting of an aluminoxane and a metallocene within an industrially intereseting temp. range by using high catalytic activity.
CONSTITUTION: An olefin represented by formula I (wherein R11 and R12 are each H or a 1-14C alkyl and bonded to form a 14-28C ring) is polymerized in a soln. state, a suspension state or a gaseous phase at 0-150°C under pressure of 0.5-100 bar in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a linear aluminoxane represented by formula II (R10 is a 1-6C alkyl and (n) is 2-50) and/or a cyclic aluminoxane represented by formula III and a metalloocene being one or more compds. represented by formula IV [wherein M1 is Zr or Hf; R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-10C alkyl, a 1-10C alkoxy, a 6-10C aryl or a halogen; R3 and R4 are each H, a halogen, a 1-10C alkyl, -NH92, -SR9, -OS; or R93 (R9 is a 1-10C alkyl or a 6-10C aryl); and R5-R8 are H, a halogen, a 1-30C alkyl or a 1-10C fluoroalkyl].
