Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polyoxymethylene copolymer having a high thermal stability.
SOLUTION: This polymer is produced by copolymerizing trioxane with 1,3-dioxolane in the presence of at least one polymerization catalyst selected from the group consisting of boron trifluoride, boron trifluoride hydrate, and coordination complex compounds of an organic oxygen or sulfur compound and boron trifluoride. The 1,3-dioxolane used comprises one containing 2- methyl-1,3-dioxolane in an amount of at most 500ppm by weight and a peroxide in an amount of at most 15ppm by weight in terms of hydrogen peroxide and having at least one sterically hindered phenol in an amount of 10-500ppm by weight added thereto.
