PURPOSE: To produce a porous zirconium titanate ceramic (porous PZT ceramic) in which the pores are isotropically or anisotropically distributed and uniformly distributed and with the variance in specific/permittivity and piezoelectric characteristic reduced in good yield.
CONSTITUTION: A calcined PZT powder, a pore forming material consisting of fullerene grains and a dispersant is wet-mixed with a solvent, and then 1-5 pts.wt. of a binder is added to 100 pts.wt. of the calcined PZT powder plus pore forming material to obtain a slurry. The slurry is cast to obtain the casting. The casting is calcined to produce a porous PZT ceramic in which the pores are isotropically distributed. Meanwhile, a slurry contg. the pore forming material and a slurry not contg. the pore forming material are alternately cast to obtain the casting, and the casting is calcined to obtain a porous PZT ceramic in which the pores ate anisotropically distributed.
