To make near-net shape molding of large-sized articles and intricately shaped articles possible in spite of a small lot and to easily obtain these products by using porous molds and absorbing the dispersion medium in a slurry to be cast into these porous molds in a process for producing powder metallurgical products by cast molding method.
The slurry prepd. by dispersing metallic powder into the dispersion medium, such as water, is cast into the porous molds and the dispersion medium is partly absorbed in the porous molds, by which the slurry is solidified and a molding is obtd. The molding is dried and is then sintered to form a sintered compact. The sintered compact is subjected to a surface treatment at need, then to plating, by which the products, such as faucet fittings, are obtd. A mold material which is porous at least on the molding surfaces need to be used as the mold for casting the slurry. The preferable molds include gypsum molds, resin molds, ceramic molds, etc.
