Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent deformation and the deterioration of the function of a functional coating layer by forming the coating layer and then carrying out precision machining.
CONSTITUTION: A curved surface similar to the surface of a lens to be molded is formed on the top of a round rod 11 by machining or grinding. This concave surface 12 is smoothened by polishing and coated with platinum by sputtering to form a coating layer 13. The coated concave surface 12 is then machined to an aspherical shape with a machining tool hardly causing wear. A metal mold 10 for molding glass into an aspherical lens is obtd.
