To provide a portland cement clinker production process which enables efficient agglomeration of dispersed components in mud-water such as sewage, fouled water, sludge and wastewater, recovery of an agglomerate containing a comparatively large amount of chlorides and utilization of the recovered agglomerate as a raw material for portland cement clinker.
This production process comprises adding an aqueous solution of iron (III) chloride and/or aluminum chloride to mud-water to obtain a liquid mixture, then adding an inorganic alkaline powder consisting essentially of slaked lime and/or quick lime or an aqueous slurry of the powder to the liquid mixture, dehydrating the resulting material, and using the dehydrated material as a raw material for portland cement clinker; wherein a part of a portland cement clinker raw material mixture to be supplied to a cement firing kiln, which mixture is heated to 800-1,100°C, is withdrawn from a point on the way to the cement firing kiln.
