PURPOSE: To improve production efficiency of protein, by using a transformed strain containing a recombinant DNA having genetic information for the production of protein and culturing the transformed strain in a medium containing phospholipid.
CONSTITUTION: A transformed strain containing a recombinant DNA having genetic information for the production of protein is cultured in a medium containing phospholipid. After the culture, the produced protein is separated from the microbial cell or the medium and purified to obtain the objective protein. The amount of the phospholipid depends upon the kins of phospholipid, produced protein, etc., and is usually about 100mgW5g/l, preferably about 200mgW1g/l. The protein to be produced by this process is preferably an amphiphatic protein such as apoprotein, lipid synthetase, lipid conversion protein, membrane-binding protein, etc. Lecithin is the most suitable phospholipid.
