Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce pulp suitable for wood-free paper at a low cost by physically pressing a specific algae and subjecting the product to a chemical treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A green algae belonging to genus Closterium is pressed to discharge water, life-sustaining tissue, chlorophyll, etc., from the cell and obtain the objective pulp. Pulp for wood-free paper can be produced by the chemical treatment of the above pulp with an acid or alkali.
