PURPOSE: To obtain easily the push rod having a wear resistance and strength by fixing a tip and rod with their joining by forming a bulging part on the end part of a rod main body and by pressing the tip after its insertion into the hole which is provided on the bulging part.

CONSTITUTION: The bulging part 5 projecting to the all periphery of the side peripheral edge is formed by pressing a rod main body 1 in the axial direction by a press 4 by fixing a round bar rough material 1 and by projecting the end face 3. A tip fitting hole 7 is pierced by a drill 6 on the apex face of the bulging part 5. Now the leg part 10 of the tip 8 formed in advance with ceramics is inserted into the fitting hole 7 of the rod main body 1 and the rod 1 is passed through the die 11 having nearly the same diameter with that thereof. The bulging part 5 is pressed to the inner part by its passing through the hole 12 of the die 11, the inner wall of the fitting hole 7 is deformed, the deformed part 13 comes inside the annular groove of the leg part 10 of the tip 8 and is closely fitted to the annular groove face in the same face therewith. The joining of the rod 1 and tip 8 is thus integrated and the drop caused by separation of the tip 8 from the rod 1 is prevented.
