Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc., in high yield, by reacting methyl N-cyano- cyanoacetoimidate with a hydrogen halide in a solvent consisting of a benzene compound having alkyl groups and/or 1W3 halogen atoms.

CONSTITUTION: 2-Amino-4-halogeno-6-methoxypyrimidine can be produced by reacting methyl N-cyano-cyanoacetoimidate with a hydrogen halide in a solvent consisting of a benzene compound having alkyl groups and/or 1W3 halogen atoms (especially preferably toluene, mesitylene, chlorobenzene, etc., above all mesitylene is most preferable).
