Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new industrial production method for a quinone derivative such as a vitamin K derivative, coenzyme Q derivative, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A 1,4,4a,8a-tetrahydro-4aα-alkenyl-1α,4α-methanonaphthalene-5,8- dione derivative of formula I (R1, R2 are lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, or R1 and R2 form an aromatic ring; n is 0-9) is reacted with an alkyl halide of formula: R3X (R3 is lower alkyl; X is halogen) in the presence of a base, and the produced 1,4,4a,8a-tetrahydro-4aα-alkenyl-8aα-alkyl-1α,4α-methanonphthalene-5,8-dione derivative is subjected to a reverse Diels.Alder reaction to produce a quinone derivative of formula III. The compound of formula I is produced by reacting 1,4-naphthoquinone, 1,4-benzoquinone, etc., with cyclopentadiene and subsequently reacting the produced compound of formula IV with an allyl derivative of formula V (L is halogen, alkylsulfonyl, arysulfonyl).
