Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce quinones such as parabenzoquinone in one process from phenols.
CONSTITUTION: Phenols such as phenol are subjected to oxidation reaction using an oxidizing agent such as oxygen in the presence of a heteropolyacid as a catalyst. Quinones such as parabenzoquinone can be produced by charging phenols such as phenol as a raw material and an oxidizing agent (e.g. diluted oxygen) into a reactor and reacting phenols with the oxidizing agent in the presence of the heteropolyacid.
