PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a raised cloth having a raised structure and a touch resembling natural fur of high class, showing improved appearance of the raised layer and much reduced weight in comparison with conventional natural and artificial resemblances.
CONSTITUTION: Hair-like raised fibers 2 of a certain length, composed of polyester fibers whose ends are sharpened and cotton-like raised fibers 3 which are longer than the hair-like fibers 2 and crimped are mix-spun to prepare piled yarns, which are used to form pile fabrics. Then, cotton-like raised fibers 3 are trimmed in a certain height without cutting the hair-like raised fibers 2. After that, the surface of the raised fabric is treated with alkali followed by heat treatment to shrink the raised fibers to almost uniform length and the raised fibers are sharpened at their top ends.
