Title:
PRODUCTION OF RAPIDLY COOLED WIDE STRIP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0417958
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce variance of strip thickness by pressurizing kissing part of rolls at the specific pressure to develop gas between the rolls and rolling the strip thickness to the specific size at the time of producing a rapidly cooled wide strip from molten metal between twin rolls.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of producing the rapidly cooled wide strip rapidly solidified at ≥105k/sec from the molten Fe-series alloy 5 by using the twin roll apparatus 1, load of 3-6t/cm line contacting pressure per unit width of the strip at the kissing part (a) is applied to the rolls 2, 3 to develop the gap between the rolls with reactive force of molten metal and solidified layers and the solidified strip is passed and rolled to ≤150μm strip thickness. By this method, the gap between the rolls can be prevented from excessive distance, and also cooling effect is improved and in this result, any trouble, such as wear of roll, breakout, is not developed and the variance of strip thickness can be eliminated.
