Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a raw material for yielding a high-purity low-temperature type barium metaborate single crystal in good yield by subjecting Ba(OH)2.nH2O or BaO to neutralization reaction with H3BO3 or B2O3 in an aqueous solution and subjecting the resultant precipitate to heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:At least either one of barium hydroxide n.hydrate and barium oxide is subjected to neutralization reaction with at least either one of boric acid and boron oxide in an aqueous solution. Then the resultant precipitate is subjected to heat treatment and then cooled to provide the raw material for yielding low-temperature type barium metaborate single crystal. According to the above-mentioned method, yield is improved and production time is shortened, because said raw material is free from contamination and a process, e.g. for cleaning the precipitate is not at all required. Further, it is made possible to always feed a raw material for yielding single crystal having a definite quality and the method can contribute also to cost reduction in producing low- temperature type barium metaborate single crystal.
