Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a method for producing readily water absorbing paper, useful as a coaster, a paper table cloth, etc., excellent in printability and having surface strength.
CONSTITUTION: The method for producing readily water absorbing paper having surface strength comprises adding a sizing agent to a pulp paper stock, forming a sheet of paper, applying a liquid containing a surfactant having wettability and permeability to water added to a surface strengthening agent for the paper to one or both surfaces of the paper in a size press and thereby reducing sizing properties.
