To provide a method which can efficiently execute the reduction, and a device therefor, in reducing at high temp. by charging powdery iron raw material together with powdery solid reducing agent onto a rotary hearth furnace.
The powdery iron raw material on the furnace hearth is heated from the upper part and also, fuel is burnt by injecting the fuel and oxygen- containing gas into a heating space part 25 arranged below the furnace hearth. The powdery iron raw material on the furnace hearth is heated from the lower surface of the furnace hearth, too, while keeping the temp. of the heating space part at ≥1100°C, and the powdery iron raw material is reduced and the obtd. reduced iron is discharged to out of the furnace and gas exhausted from the rotary hearth furnace is recovered. At least a part of the recovered gas is introduced into the heating space part and used to enable raising of thermal efficiency in the whole process. This method can easily perform by using this device.
