To provide a producing method of reduced iron which can prevent the reoxidation of the reduced iron and the sticking of agglomerate to a furnace hearth refractory while improving the producing efficiency by promoting the reducing reaction.
The reduced iron is produced by executing the high temp. reduction to powdery iron raw material consisting essentially of iron oxide through the following (1) to (3) processes. (1) A process, in which powdery solid reducing agent and the powdery iron raw material are agglomerated and the surface of this agglomerate is coated with the powdery solid reducing agent to produce the coated agglomerate shown in the figure (b), is executed. (2) A process, in which the coated agglomerate is charged into a reducing furnace to form the agglomerate layer on the furnace hearth, is executed. (3) A process, in which fuel and oxygen-containing gas are blown into the reducing furnace and combustible gas generated from the blown fuel and the agglomerate is burnt with the oxygen-containing gas blown into the furnace and the temp. in the furnace is raised to ≥1100°C and held to reduce the agglomerated powdery iron raw material, is executed.
