PURPOSE: To produce a reinforcing cord which makes it possible to increase the peeling resistance while raising the cord density without causing cord-cord contact.
CONSTITUTION: A jig 2 is formed which is provided on the flat surface thereof with closely arranged parallel concave guide grooves 2a in a depth at most equal to the radius. Parallel cords 1 under tension are guided into the grooves of the jig 2 and a rubber solution is applied to the cords 1 at the positions shown by the arrows A to C. After drying, a thin-film unvulcanized rubber layer 6 is stuck to one side or both sides thereof. By this technique, a reinforcing cord having thigh cord density and suitable as the carcass material of a pneumatic tire and a belt cover material can be produced.
