Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject resin having high refractive index and excellent processability an useful as a lens or optical element, by the cast-polymerization of a diisocyanate and a mercaptoalkyl ester of a polyhydric alcohol in the presence of an initiator and a specific internal mold release agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin is produced by the cast polymerization of a diisocyanate (preferably m-xylylene diisocyanate) and a mercaptoalkyl ester of a >=3-hydric polyol [preferably pentaerythritol tetrakis(3- mercaptopropionate)] in the presence of an initiator. The cast polymerization is carried out by adding preferably 10-5,000ppm of an internal mold release agent selected from a mineral oil mold release agent, a phosphoric acid ester mold release agent, a fatty acid alkyl ester and a condensed mold release agent produced by combining an organic acid glyceride and a synthetic resin.
