Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a resin produced in high polymerization stability by carrying out emulsion polymerization using a specific surfactant composition as an emulsifier, exhibiting extremely little discoloration in heating and molding caused by the residual emulsifier and giving excellent color tone when mixed to a thermoplastic resin.
CONSTITUTION: This resin is produced by carrying out the emulsion polymerization using an emulsifier composed of (A) 10-100wt.% (based on the total emulsifier) of an anionic surfactant having two or more sulfonic acid groups or sulfuric acid groups in one molecule [e.g. a compound of formula (R is a 8-22C alkyl; M is Na or K)] and (B) 0-90wt.% (based on the total emulsifier) of a nonionic surfactant, converting the obtained resin latex into a slurry e.g. by freezing and separating the solid from water. The polymerization initiator is preferably a redox-type polymerization initiator consisting of a compound containing bivalent or trivalent iron.
