Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve hardness in obtaining rigid polyurethane foam comprising an organic polyisocyanate, polyol, catalyst, blowing agent and foam stabilizer by using a specific organic isocyanate. CONSTITUTION:A polyisocyanate comprising 8-47wt.% tolylene diisocyanate and 92-53wt.% polyphenylmethane polyisocyanate are reacted with a polyether polyol having 300-600mg KOH/g obtained by subjecting an alkylene oxide to addition polymerization to pentaerythritol to give a prepolymer having 30.0-35.5wt.% isocyanate content. An organic polyisocyanate comprising the prepolymer is reacted with a polyol (e.g. ethylene glycol) in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. triethylamine), a blowing agent (e.g. methylene chloride) and a foam stabilizer (e.g. polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether) to give rigid polyurethane foam suitable for building material.
