PURPOSE: To obtain a sand mold having sufficient green sand mold strength, permitting regeneration of sand, and free from offensive smell, by using hydro-oxycarboxylic acid or mixture thereof with polycarboxylic acid, divalent or trivalent metal oxide or hydroxide, casting sand, and polymer aqueous solution containing water or carboxylic group.
CONSTITUTION: Indispensable components are (B) a compound having carboxylic group or a group capable of forming the same, and hydroxyl group of a group capable of forming the same, for instance, hydro-oxycarboxylic acid such as citric acid; or (B') a compound having two or more carboxylic groups or groups capable of forming the same in B and molecule, for instance, mixture with oxalic acid or the like; (C) oxide or hydroxide of divalent or trivalent metal, for instance, MgO; (D) casting sand; (E) water; or (A) polymer containing carboxylic group, for instance, aqueous solution of polyacrylic acid or the like. A sand mold is manufactured by mixing said components at proper ratio, and forming and hardening.
