PURPOSE: To obtain a homogeneous seamless titanium tube having superior ductility by specifying the range of temp. at the entrance of a final rolling mill for hollow tube stock, performing final rolling at a specific percentage of reduction of area or below, and then carrying out annealing at a temp. in a specific range.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow tube stock composed of Ti or Ti alloy is subjected to working at ≥15% percentage of reduction of area by means of final rolling, while regulating the temp. at the entrance of a final rolling mill, such as plug mill, to a value between 700°C and (β-transus + 50°C). Further, β-transus means a temp. at which an α-phase as a low-temp. phase of Ti alloy is perfectly dissipated and the Ti alloy is formed into a β-phase as a single phase. Subsequently, the Ti alloy after the above working is annealed at a temp. between 630°C and β-transus temp. By this method, the seamless titanium tube improved in reliability to a greater extent as structural material, etc., and having the above- mentioned characteristics can be obtained.
