Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a process for deriving a secondary amine at a high conversion rate and high selection rate from a certain kind of star-shaped polymer by using a rhodium catalyst and a lubricant compsn., fuel compsn. and additive concentrate contg. the resulted secondary amine.

CONSTITUTION: The selectively hydrogenate star-shaped polymer contg. carbon monoxide, hydrogen, polyvinyl arom. nucleus and the four polymeric arms selected from a group comprising (i) hydrogenated homopolymers and hydrogenated copolymers of conjugated dienes, (ii) hydrogenated copolymers of conjugated dienes and monoalkenyl arenes and (iii) mixtures thereof and the primary amine deriv. having a terminal -NH2 group and terminal-NR1R2 group (where R1 and R2 respectively independently denote hydrogen or an alkyl group) are brought into reaction in the presence of a solvent and a catalyst system contg. a cation rhodium source, cation ruthenium source, arom. N-heterocyclic ligand and anion source exclusive of halide.
