Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a silica particle liquid dispersion which is a fine, stable, uniform and reproducible dispersion of a photographically useful compound.
CONSTITUTION: In this production, a compound which is water-insoluble, but alkalisoluble, is dissolved in an alkali aq. solution, if necessary, with a water-soluble organic solvent as the assistant, and then, pH of the resulting solution is lowered in the presence of a colloidal silica sol, and preferably, further in the presence of a dispersant to precipitate the compound from the solution. Thereafter, water-soluble salts formed by the precipitation and the organic solvent (if used) are removed from the solution, and then, the liquid dispersion is concentrated by performing dialysis or ultrafiltration during or after the precipitation stage, or performing coagulation and decantation after the precipitation stage, and subsequently further performing washing and decantation.
