Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a specific O-demethylated compound by diastereoselectively O-demethylating a prescribed compound such as a medicine intermediate, etc., in the presence of an enzyme derived from a culture product of a fungus belonging to the genus Monosporium.
SOLUTION: A compound of formula I is selectively demethylated in the presence of an enzyme derived from a culture product of a fungus [e.g. Monosporium olivaceum ATCC 36,300, etc.], belonging to the genus Monosporium to selectively give the objective O-demethylated compound of formula II by using the fungus for O-demethylating a specific medicine intermediate compound.
