PURPOSE: To automatically weld all segmented shapes surely and well and produce the spherical tank by giving the rotation of perpendicular plane to the spherical tank sphere shell through holding the same between holding arms and the rotation of horizontal plane thereto through supporting at the bottom with a turntable, and subjecting the joints to large-current welding with a torch in the upper part.
CONSTITUTION: A spherical tank 1 is placed on support legs 9, 9 and is repositioned by elevators 13, 13 so that its central point 15 aligns to the rotating axis line 4. It is also repositioned by a turntable 10 so that its tangential line 2 intersects orthogonally with the axis line 4. A support roller device 11 is contacted to the outside circumference of the tank 1. Thence, both travel trucks 8, 8 are respectively advanced and the tank 1 is held between holding arms 5, 5. A drive unit 6 and table 10 are set at arbitrary speeds and the tank 1 is rotated to the perpendicular plane by the arms 5, 5, thence the tank is subjected to large-current automatic welding along the weld line 2 in a perfectly flat position by a welding torch 3. It also undergoes welding in the horizontal direction by the rotation of horizontal plane by the table 10.
