PURPOSE: Sophisticated combination of the physical properties of tow fibers, the raw material, and stretch-breaking method gives the fibers of sliver with a variety of heat shrinkage, thus producing spun yarns with high bulkiness and good touch.
CONSTITUTION: Feed fiber tow 1 with less than 4.0g/d average filament strength and more than 25% digital distribution of elongation at break in variation index is heat drawn in the drawing zone from nip rollers 4, 5, 6 and other nip rollers 7, 8, 9 to cause yarn break. The yarn drawing is continued at a constant ratio in the stretch-breaking zone between nip rollers 7, 8, 9 and nip rollers 16 and 17 and the yarn is cut in the state of a variety of heat shrinkage according to the fiber elongation at break. Especially, the fiber of the part which has already broken in the drawing zone is not substantially stretched to become the fiber bundle of low shrinkage. Said yarns are made into spun yarns and heat treated to form bulky yarns with multi-layered structure.
