PURPOSE: To produce a clad steel at a low cost by a simple method by sandwiching a copper alloy having the m.p. higher than a specific temp. between a cladding material and a base material and heating the entire part to the above- mentioned m.p. or above then rolling the materials at the temp. below the above- mentioned m.p.
CONSTITUTION: A copper alloy having ≥900°C m.p. is sandwiched as an insert metal between a base material which is a carbon steel or low alloy steel and a cladding material which is a stainless steel. The entire part of the sandwiching material is heated to the temp. region above the m.p. of the copper alloy. The heated materials are then rolled in the temp. region below the m.p. of said copper alloy and a desired stainless clad steel is produced. The copper alloy used is, for example, 90% Cu-10% Ni having about 1,130°C m.p. The stainless clad steel is thus obtd. at a low cost by the simple method.
