PURPOSE: To prevent the flawing on the grooved surface of the stamper for information recording by using a father stamper contg. ruggedness and producing a mother stamper by using a resin base material.

CONSTITUTION: Resist patterns 5 for forming the ruggedness of the stamper are formed on a glass substrate 7. The resist is then dry etched to form fine patterns of a prescribed depth. The residues of the resist are then removed, by which the father stamper 2 is obtd. The mother stamper 3 is formed of the resin base material on the stamper 2. The stamper 3 is thereafter peeled and a conducting film 8 for forming an electrocasting base material is formed on the peeled surface. An electrocasting layer is formed by electrocasting thereon and is peeled to obtain the stamper 4.
